Camping Trip

We went camping last weekend at Dorena Lake in the Cottage Grove area with the Rowles, Bowmans and the Wests. A group of sixteen--8 grown ups, 8 kids under the age of three. Insanity. Well, yes. But let me assure you, we were never bored. You may wonder why all four of us are sleeping on the floor of the van. It has something to do with letting a woman do the packing: We had salt and pepper. We had sunscreen and insect repellant. We had new potholders and dishes that matched the table cloth. We had the tent, and the stakes, and a tarp, but tent poles? Why would we need those? Oops. The van ended up working pretty well--except for the bruising inflicted by a thrashing toddler. It insulated us from the noises of the other six kids, and the seats we had to remove made very comfortable fireside seating.

sure looks like fun! I'm thinking this might not be the first time someone in this family forgot tent poles!

The van over the ground? I would think that forgetting the poles was quite a good idea. If I ever go camping in my lifetime I will have to remember that one.
