Rest in Peace

Today, we mourn the loss of a beloved friend. About a year ago, Paul and Benton made a trip to the Bible Book House and Benton made a friend. That friend was a giant inflatable Larry the Cucumber decked out in his Sheerluck Holmes garb. Paul and Benton are a rather unstoppable team when they set their mind to something. Imagine my "delight" when Larry came home with them. Since that day, not only has Larry made arranging furniture around him a challenge, he has also suffered immeasurable abuse from pretty every child that has ever darkened the door of Ben's room. Last night, Larry bounced his last and went to the big salad bar in the sky. Tears were shed, but when I calmed Paul down, he understood Larry would be happy there. When I hauled the deflated remnants of his friend out the door to the "compost pile," Benton called after him, "Bye, Larry! I'll see you on TV!" His legacy will live on in our hearts and our DVD player.

Scary thought...what will he replace Larry with next? Thanks for sharing...I always enjoy your writing...puts a smile on my face every time!

Not to worry. We still have the life sized R2D2 upstairs.

Ah, such sorrow. Cute story by the way. So are we now on the hunt for an inflatable Bob The Builder?

So sorry for you loss! Reminds me of the girls' "Turtle Pool". Remember the green pool with the turtle face and a slide? It was awesome! Well, when it broke we put it at the curb for the garbage man. I'll never forget the girls staring after the garbage truck with that pathetic turtle face peering out the back. Aunt Marci
